School Choice

Title I Public School Choice

Title I Public School Choice will be implemented as follows:

  • Students who previously transferred to another District school under No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Public School Choice have the option to remain at his/her current school through the highest grade of the Title I sending school with District-paid transportation.
  • Beginning in 2017-18, new students participating in the Title I Public School Choice will only be from Title I Language Immersion elementary schools.

Alternative Supports


Students attending a Title I school are eligible to receive alternative supports.  Alternative supports are supplemental activities that are locally defined to provide a well-rounded program of instruction to meet the academic needs of students.  CUSD is offering the following alternative supports. Parents should inquire at their school for more information.

  1. Interventions offered during the After School Education and Safety Programs at the following sites: Kinoshita, Las Palmas, RH Dana, San Juan, and Viejo.
  2. High-quality academic tutoring (Priority to lowest-achieving students).
  3. Academic support offered during the summer (Various school sites).
  4. After school classes (varies by site).
